I check out the store quite frequently as I am Judy's daughter! She and my sister had gotten me started on scrapping. However, I have to admit, even though I have been doing it for a few years now the actual time I get to work on my projects seems to be limited. I started when my first son was born in 2003. Now I have a 2nd little guy who is turning 2 in July and I just finished their baby books. I haven't gotten to year 1 for either of them. I am trying to decide how I want to continue. I started a book for each of them but I find it really hard to keep up. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get caught up on 31/2 years in a hurry! HELP! Jill |

Hi Jill, My best advice would be one page at a time. Put pictures on CD. That seems to be the best. You can take 1 CD for year 1 for each of them and you an sort through all the pictures and print off the ones you like without having to go through picture after picture. Having them on the CD speeds everything up. I personally have themed CD's for my son. From water to crafts, even trouble. Then as i get new pictures, i put them on their appropriate CD so i can scrap them later on. It takes some time getting the CD's started, but helps when i am ready to do a page. I just finished 30 pages after my first post. I was stuck on journaling...not anymore. I would just pick a CD and print off a couple of them. I find that after their first year, it doesn't really matter if i go "in order". That way i have pages of bath time of say 13 months, 17 months and 22 months. It all happened while he was one, so who cares. I hope that helps somehow. Cheers! Cassandra |

Hi Jill, How cool to have a mom who can help you w/ your scrappin projects! Through the couple of conversations I have had w/ Judy, it is obvious she is SO proud of her kids & grandkids! I wish I had some great advice on how to catch up on 3 and a half years for you, but I am in the same boat myself! My son turned 2 in Nov. and I recently met a friend who got me into scrappin. The advice she gave me was to sort pics by a timeline & write down some themes I would like to do. I liked the info I found on this site too, about how to write notes on the pics w/ post its as to why you want to use them and to have fun w/ it! How do you feel your older son did when your second lil guy was born? We have been thinking about trying for another, but I am nervous about the right age difference... Not to mention I work on the phone p/t from home and wonder how/if I could handle 2 kids and still be able to meet my weekly quota. Was your older son a help for you, this has been a "hot topic" in our house lately. Some days I want to just take the plunge and figure it out along the way, others I have such a time w/ my ONE son, I wonder how I could have another right now... Hope your having a GREAT weekend!! Take Care! Maria :0) |

Thank you, I love the CD advice. That's an easy way to get my photos organized and for me that is the biggest part of the battle! Right now I am doing the "box thing" and I am continually paging through pictures. I pick them out set aside the ones I want to scrap and before I know it they are unorganized again! With the CD I can save them in same order in which my pages will go in the scrapbook. Big time saver! Boys! Boys! Boys!! It sounds like so far we all have boys in common! You have got to love boys! I bet we could really share some stories! Maria, it sounds like you have a little decision making goin' on at your house! You asked me how my firstborn reacted when our second son was born. Words cannot describe how excited he was. He instantly fell in love with his new brother. I won't lie, I was a little nervous when we first found out we were expecting again but I am sure thankful for God's "Surprises!" Having the kids so close together in age has been great. So coming from someone who likes to fly by the seat of her pants, who avoids planning if at all possible, and enjoys a good amount of chaos in her house....I say go for it!!! SMILES! JILL |

Jill, I love your mom! What a wonderful lady. A suggestion for getting caught up on pictures (that never happens) Try doing an album of just your favorite pictures. A small 6x6 album with picture on one side and on the other Why it is your favorite. Aldean |

Jill, Thanks for the boost of confidence! It is a HUGE decision to have another baby now, to say the least! It helps hearing from other moms about their experiences so much! I went to my first crop last night and now realize there is so much I can do with scrapping! As I am a new scrapper, I did not realize the vast array of things you can do projets on! One thing for sure, Judy set me up with one beautiful lot that will make it easier to create precious memories of my lil guy! I think I did ok for my first time, I felt like I spent more time learning how to work the tools and measurments etc. than actually scrappin, but I guess it is all part of the process... I can't wait for my next one!! Take Care! Maria :0) |
